Introduction To My Spiritual Journey

I remember the heavy chest pains, shallow breaths, and body aches associated with ongoing stress and anxiety during the pandemic in 2020. I was working as a Wealth Manager managing wealth for high-net worth clients when chaos and panic took over the stock market. Seeing the large declines in my clients’ portfolios made me sick to my stomach. Fortunately, the markets rallied just a few months later and my clients recouped everything and more! This experience was the beginning of a new passion and lifestyle for me.

Up until 2020, I will admit that I never connected to anything spiritual or religious. For me, the only way I could understand the world was through science. If I could not see it or touch it, it did not exist. Therefore, I did not believe in any holistic healing practices. It took a global pandemic and financial crisis to alter my way of thinking. I was so overwhelmed with stress and anxiety with my career, motherhood, and projects that I noticed my body spiraling out of control. But rather than relying on prescription medication to mask the root issues, I decided to try meditation.

I love meditating with Tibetan bowls, candles, or incense to set the mood.
Protect your energy and space with smudging tools, candles, incense, or Tibetan bowls.

My husband suggested guided meditation for five minutes. While that sounds short, I found it was difficult staying calm and relaxed those first few minutes because my mind seemed to wander off and think about all the other things that I needed to complete today. Further, I would get frustrated that I couldn’t meditate or get that peaceful sensation I hear others talk about. But I tried again the next day. And the day after that. I would journal my meditation experiences daily and was surprised that as the days progressed, the length of my meditations went longer and were more effective at relieving my stress and anxiety. By the end of the first month, I was meditating on average twenty to twenty-five minutes long. By the end of the second month, I was meditating thirty to forty minutes long. And by month three, I was meditating on average one hour long. Meditation not only changed my life – it saved me. It helped me emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Living a life with gratitude and journaling your thoughts helps relieve inner stress and anxiety

I explored other forms of meditation and connected with chakra meditation and reiki healing. I also explored holistic healing tools, oils, and natural herbs. In the upcoming blogs, I’ll share more details on my personal spiritual journey but first I will introduce you the profound concept of “energy” and why all of these holistic healing practices revolve around energy. These holistic healing practices are transformative but was not always an easy one. Not many of my friends, family, or colleagues had participated in these practices so I felt alone through my spiritual journey. But in some ways, my own curiosity and my own body’s light helped illuminate a path out of darkness when I needed it most. I want you to know that you are not alone in this spiritual journey. Health and wellness is so important and the fact that you are still reading this is a sign that you are ready for change.
